SMS texting restrictions for business continue to tighten. In fact, new regulations went into effect this month.
What does this mean?
Any company using SMS for business purposes is required to submit an application to the Campaign Registry. This process is intended to eradicate spoofed and spam messages by proving the identity and legitimacy of the organization requesting to use SMS texting services in their business.
This includes P2P (person-to-person) messaging and A2P (application-to-person) messaging. P2P messages are typically text conversations between 2 people. A2P message examples include marketing or promotional, appointment or webinar reminders, surveys, etc.
So what happens if you don’t submit a Campaign Registration form?
Starting December 1, 2024, your SMS mobile carrier will issue a block, preventing your company from sending outbound SMS text messages.
This block will also go into effect if you received a “rejection” notice – until you clear up the issue that caused the rejection and resubmit.
If your provider didn’t make you aware of this or if your business SMS texting service has stopped working, contact your IDeACOM representative.
And if you’re not currently using business SMS texting but would like to learn more, contact your IDeACOM representative.
As we wind down 2024 (hard to believe, right?), we would like to wish you and your loved ones a very happy and joyous holiday season!
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
And cheers to a healthy and prosperous New Year!
